Extreme Sports Influencer Andreas Tonelli Dead After Dolomites Ride
Extreme sports influencer Andreas Tonelli Died on Tuesday July 15, while cycling in the Dolomites. He was 48 years old.
Tonelli died Tuesday during a solo outing where he fell at around 200 meters (656 feet) in the Vallelunga region in Val Gardena, Italy, according to Italy The Sardinian Union.
The influencer, originally from South Tyrol, in Italy, would have been released for a journey at the end of the afternoon, sharing videos from his walk via social media. The latest download was displayed at 7:15 p.m. and showed that Tonelli went up to 2,905 meters (9,531 feet) on Piz Duleda. Two hours after the post, Tonelli had not returned from the journey, which led one of his friends to call for help. Alpine Rescue used a helicopter to patrol the mountains throughout the night, according to Italian media.
Tonelli’s body was spotted in a ravine around 1 a.m. The rescuers had to wait until the early hours of Wednesday July 16 to recover the body due to heavy rain and icy temperatures, the Sarda Union reported.
