Kevin Costner Was Cut From A Major Movie Early In His Career

Kevin Costner became a huge star in the 1980s and 1990s. He embodied a good kind of reliable American guy, often playing golden boys in sport films like “Bull Durham”, “Tin Cup” and “Field of Dreams”. He also has a passion for westerns, winning the Oscars for his radical romance between a union soldier and an Amerindian woman, “Dances With Wolves”. In recent years, he has played in “Yellowstone”, a modern drama on a powerful ranch magnate. More recently, he published his passion project, “Horizon: an American saga – Chapter 1”, which failed in the box office, but gained a little traction on VOD.

Like many promising actors, Costner’s career has started with many BIT or Z quality films with bustring budgets. There was a role that could have opened the door to its possible celebrity earlier, but unfortunately, his scenes found themselves on the floor of the cut room. “The Big Chill” was produced by Lawrence Kasdan and co-written with Barbara Benedek. Kasdan had just written the mastodons “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”, and his dramatic follows former college friends meeting the funeral of their friend after having followed his life. Costner was interpreted as the central friend, Alex.
