In March 2023, / film reported that Ryan Coogler, more recently director of The successful musical “Sinners”, “ And Chris Carter, the creator of the conspiracy series of the 1990s “The X-Files”, collaborated An update from the 2020s in the Carter series. It was not clear at the time if “The X-Files” of Coogling would share a continuity with the original show or if it was going to be a difficult restart with a whole new cast and newly restarted continuity. The only word they used was to “go up”, which could have mean anything.

More recently, In an episode of “The Last Podcast on the left”, “ Coogling his ideas a little widened, saying that the project was still very alive. He had been busy finishing the blockbuster “Black Panther: Wakanda forever”, then went to “Sinners”, and he was relieved to have a virgin slate where he could finally place in work on “The X-Files”. He said that he has been thinking of the project for a long time and that he was “immediately following” on his file. Coogler even mentioned that he had spoken with actress Gillian Anderson, one of the co-chefs of the original “The X-Files” of her beginnings in 1993 Nine original seasonsThen two additional renewal seasons in 2016 and 2018. Coogling said that “it is incredible” and “the fingers are crossed”.

It seems that Anderson is the game. Anderson Recently appeared on “This Morning” by ITV1 ,,,,, Confirming that she had indeed spoke of coogulating a new version of “The X-Files”. She loved the director’s match to equipment, and even with playful (or seriously?) Filaca her services for the project.
Gillian Anderson said, “Call me”.
What Anderson said was not a commitment, of course. But it was positive. His exact words were: “I spoke to [Coogler]And what I said was, “If someone was doing, I think you are the perfect and good luck. […] Call me. […] At one point, if the phone rings, and that’s good, and it’s like the right time … maybe. “”

If Anderson had to play a role, however, it is not clear if it resumed its original role or if it would simply play as a inherited hiring, which gives it a blessing to the new series as a new character. It was surprising to see that Anderson was so positive about participation in a potential restart of “X-Files”, given the number of times she refused to talk about it in the past. On “The Today Show” in 2024, she even noted how tired she was on demand, so many years after the end of the show. When she heard that Coogling was involved, she made an 180, saying: “I cannot think of a better way to restart so that a restart occurs.” She also added that “maybe I’m going to enter something.” Anderson would be happy to work with coogling, it seems.
