Erik and Lyle Menendez’s Murder Trial: Where Are The Key Players Now?

The parents of the Menéndez brothers, José And Kitty Menéndez, were found dead in their house in Beverly Hills in 1989. After Lyle called the police, they discovered that José was killed six times and Kitty was shot down 10 times. Lyle and Erik were not initially people of interest but were arrested a year later after Their therapist recorded sessions where they admitted the murders.
During their high -level trial, the brothers accused their parents, José and Kitty, alleged physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Erik and Lyle were found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to perpetuity without parole in 1996.
Their case received renewed support in September 2024 after having become at the center of Ryan Murphy‘s Monsters series. Erik, however, criticized the way he and Lyle were represented in a public declaration. Less than a week later Monsters was published, Netflix announced that Lyle and Erik were questioned for The brothers Menéndez documentary. The October 2024 version includes images of conversations with Juro Betty OldfieldKitty’s sister Joan Vander Molen And the Pamela Bozanich prosecutor.
In the middle of the new interest in their case, Erik and Lyle obtained a new audience for their case. The Los Angeles District Prosecutor’s Office recommended in October 2024 that Erik and Lyle’s sentences were reduced and that they were sentenced in May 2025 to 50 years. This made them eligible for parole in the future, but Erik’s demand was refused.
