Violet Affleck Recalls Heated Argument With Mom Jennifer Garner

The 19 -year -old woman wrote her reflections on how climate change played a role in Los Angeles fires that hit most of the city regions in January, noting how the behavior of “richest citizens” was an engine of the “climate crisis”.

In the test, which she titled “a chronic land: Covid Organizing as a model climate response in Los Angeles”, Violet said that she “had passed the fires of January in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room”.

Violet established that even if her mother was “surprised” by the disaster, she said that she was “surprised by her surprise”.

“My question had not been to know if the palisades would burn but when,” continued Violet, adding that the actress “Elektra” was “shocked with the shell, surprised at the magnitude of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my brothers and sisters.”

“I was surprised by his surprise: as a life for life and a member of the generation Z climate, my question had not been whether the palisades would burn but when,” she added.

Violet then noted in her essay that not only was she sure that the disaster would occur, but that her point of view was very different from everyone around her at the time.

“While I chatted with adults from the hotel where we had gone to escape smoke, I found that my position was rare: people talked about the duration of reconstruction, how much it would cost and how tragically strange,” she wrote.

“The crisis was acute, a burst of unluckiness. It came from a combination of violent winds and low rains,” wrote Violet Affleck, arguing that the badly managed system systemic crises such as climate change and pandemics, treating them as isolated events rather than interconnected problems in progress requiring long -term solutions.

She then described the “climate crisis” as “existential and accelerated”, adding that it was “motivated by unbearable consumption models concentrated among the richest citizens of the richest countries, who have already subjected most of this country and the world to fatal temperatures, to fire cycles, upwards of the seas and the death of cultures.”

Elsewhere in her note, she stressed how much privilege and opulence strongly influence aid and who is ignored.

“FEMA assistance quickly rushed to owners in the palisades – many of whom are important political donors – has flowed much more slowly to Asheville, North Carolina, where thousands of people were blocked in disastrous floods in 2024,” she wrote.

Violet wrote how “strict COVID-19” precautions “which were initially observed during the pandemic” melted when he was known that black and disabled people were the most vulnerable “to illness and death.

She argued that “focusing justice for disability and refusing eugenist logics” are “essential for the strategy of climate justice”.

“I demand the availability of the mask, the filtration of the air and the distant light in government facilities, including prisons and detention centers, and masks mandates in the county medical facilities,” said Violet. “You must extend the availability of high quality free tests and processing, and above all, the county must oppose mask prohibitions for any reason. They do not keep us more safe.”
