Former President Donald Trump was quickly escorted out of the stage of his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Saturday evening after a series of noisy sounds.
The secret service agents were captured on photos rushing to help Trump, with blood splashes on his face, especially around his ear, when he was removed from the scene while pumping his fist.
A Trump spokesperson expressed his gratitude to the police and the first stakeholders for their rapid response to.
The secret services have confirmed that the former president was now safe and is currently undergoing a medical assessment in a nearby establishment. Other updates will soon be provided.
Journalists on the spot said there was a succession of strong noises before the secret services intervened.
It is an active crime scene, “the secret service agents told journalists, by ordering them to leave the region.
“We have seen a lot of people going down, the air confused. I heard the gunshots, it looked like firecrackers and a small caliber handgun,” said John Yeykal from Franklin, Pennsylvania, who attended his first Trump rally.
Washington Post journalist, Meryl Kornfield, reported for the first time that the District of Butler County, Richard Golddinger, said that two people had died, including an apparent shooter.
The DA did not immediately return a call and an email from Business Insider.
The attack, by a shooter who, according to officials of the law enforcement, was then killed by the secret services, was the first attempt to assassinate a presidential president or candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.
This comes in the middle of a deeply polarized political atmosphere, just four months before the presidential elections and a few days before Trump was officially appointed the republican candidate during the convention of his party.
Addressing the nation about two hours after the shooting, President Joe Biden said he was relieved that Trump would have “succeeded.” He said he had not been able to reach Trump before his remarks and undertook to update the public later on Saturday on if they speak as well as additional details on the investigation.
“We cannot allow this to happen,” said Biden. “The idea that there is violence in America like this is simply unknown.”
Biden, speaking without telepromitative, said that he was expecting additional information before officially calling an attempted assassination against the former president.
“I have an opinion, but I have no fact,” he said to journalists, committing to provide updates by learning more.

The dangers of the campaign took a new emergency after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy in California in 1968, and again in 1972, when Arthur Bremer fired and seriously injured George Wallace, who presented himself as independent on a campaign platform which was sometimes compared to that of Trump. This led to the increased protection of candidates, even if the threats persisted, especially against Jesse Jackson in 1988 and Barack Obama in 2008.
The presidents, especially after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, have even more security layers. Trump is rare as a former president and current candidate.
Trump could be heard on the video saying at least twice: “Let me take my shoes, let me take my shoes”, with another voice heard saying: “I have sir.”
Trump got up a few moments later and could be seen reaching his right hand towards his face. There seemed to be blood on his face. He then pumped his fist into the air and seemed to the mouth of the word “fight” twice his crowd of supporters, causing noisy cheers and then songs of “USA. USA. USA”.
